Ben gave up pony club at age 7 to play Pokémon, much to the chagrin of his parents. He now occasionally takes breaks from Pokémon to play and write about other video games, much to the chagrin of his parents. Expect some strong opinions on game design, Picross, and bad puns.
John is a Perth-based writer who loves coffee, portable gaming and sitcoms (in that order). He writes to deconstruct gaming as an art form and highlight what makes the medium so fascinating and worthwhile.
Amelia is an English literature and music student with a passion for gaming. When she isn’t rehearsing, reading, or writing about other people’s books, she can be found going on pointless rants about whatever video game has recently captured her interest to anyone that will listen - or at least pretend to.
Born and raised in London before being repatriated to Australia, I've been playing videogames almost as long as I've consumed any media. Some of my earliest memories are asking my brother for help with Ratchet and Clank on PS2. Proudest moment: Kim Swift settled an argument with my brother in my favour.
Based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Eduard is a Comparative Literature student with a profound love for video games and everything books. When not too busy coming up with silly nicknames for his Pokémon, babbling about Star Wars to anyone who would listen or playing every JRPG under the (golden) sun, he’s probably planning and writing up his next article for Doublejump.
Edward Attwood is nearing the end of his Diploma of Entertainment Journalism course at the Australian College of the Arts (Collarts), and can’t wait to be deemed a fully fledged journalist. He loves writing with honesty over everything and has a soft spot for mythological and celestial topics, and video games, which push him to learn every day.
Ethan likes video games just a tad too much, a trait he probably picked up after starting off at a young age (with Super Mario 64, of course). As an aspiring writer, Doublejump was the perfect place to consolidate his two passions into one.
Harry is an aspiring games designer who enjoys analyzing games critically as much as he enjoys playing them. He plays most major releases, but always finds himself back on DOOM (2016) or Destiny.
Kate is a creative writing and psychology student with a tireless obsession over story-rich games. Though Bioshock will always be her first love, she's learnt to find room in her heart for other masterpieces like Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and The Last of Us. When she's not neck-deep in lab reports or fiddling with her latest creative piece, she can usually be found watching excessively long video essays on all manner of games to fuel her overanalyzing mindset.
Liam is a student journalist who loves all things art, whether it's music, manga or even cheesy 40+-year-old martial arts movies — but his first love will always be video games. From the side-scrollers of old to today’s picture perfect open-worlds, there’s nothing he loves more than a night in with this week’s big release.
A passionate fan of both the grand strategy and espionage genres in videogames, Lucas is a gamer who loves figuring out just how far he can push a game's limitations. Though now he tends to dedicate more time towards pushing through his tabletop hobby backlog, he'll always find time for a classic video game.
Currently based in New Zealand, Ruby has enjoyed video games since the early 90s. Her favourite genre tends to be open world RPGs, but she has been known to dabble in everything from city builder sims to first person shooters. By day she works at a mobile game company; by night she’s usually found curled up with her Switch or PC, or posting nonsense somewhere on the internet.
Ryan is a broadcaster and entertainment journalist who is as much of a die-hard for Mass Effect as he is for Taylor Swift. His love for gaming started with Donkey Kong Country and Mario on the SNES and grew into a love for the broad narrative and interactivity that only gaming can offer.
Today, Ryan's days consist of creating TV and radio shows with RMITV and SYN Media, maining Pichu in Smash Bros, and daydreaming of completing a couch to 5k program.
Ty's a wannabe writer who plays too many video games. Starting with his family’s Windows 95 PC, he bred on PC gaming, though, he recently bought a Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 to delve into Shin Megami Tensei and Persona. He's also one of the three people who doesn't like The Last of Us, so make of that what you will.
