DO YOU Want to write about video games?

Thank you for your interest in joining the Doublejump team!

We're looking for staff members over the age of 18 who share our immense love for video games, and who want to express that love by helping us to build the biggest and most trusted voice in the Australian games journalism industry. If that sounds like you, please read below to find out more about the positions available!

Please note: At this point in time, all positions on the Doublejump Staff are voluntary. Of course, we are hoping to change that in the near future!

contributor

The Contributor position is the entry-level writing position in the Doublejump Staff, best suited to those who are looking to put together the kinds of articles they've been seeing on the site for the past few years.

Contributors' roles and responsibilities:

• Produce at least one article every two months for publication on Doublejump;

• Be prepared to review and/or preview games when codes become available;

• Share and promote the articles you release, as well as those of your colleagues, wherever you can;

• Maintain a presence in our community on both Discord and social media; and

• Check into the Staff Discord server at least once per day – even if you don't have any notifications.

What you can expect in return:

• The ability to build experience and your journalistic portfolio with training, resources and guidance from a Management team with a combined 14 years' experience in the industry;

• Complete flexibility with article deadlines and the understanding that real life commitments come first;

• A nicely presented, constantly updated home for your work;

• Free games and codes whenever they become available;

• Discounts on Doublejump merchandise; and

• The assurance that Management is constantly working to grow the site with a view to paying you.

Our ideal candidate has:

• A strong grasp of the written English language;

• The desire to create content on a frequent basis;

• Familiarity with Discord, Google Drive and WordPress (training is available if necessary!); and

• The willingness to commit to aiding in Doublejump's continued growth.

Prior experience in games journalism – or any journalism, for that matter – is not required, but of course it will be looked upon favourably.

news writer

News Writers are the members of the team with their fingers on the pulse, ready and willing to produce regular, up-to-date news coverage and help us put together the Doublejump Digest each week.

News Writers' roles and responsibilities:

• Produce at least one news article per fortnight for publication on Doublejump;

• Assist the Editors in producing the weekly Doublejump Digest, either by collating news leads or writing them into the curated Digest;

• Maintain a presence in our community on both Discord and social media; and

• Check into the Staff Discord server at least once per day – even if you don't have any notifications.

community lead

It's probably self-explanatory, but our Community Leads are here to leverage their presence and activity on social media and in the community to help the website — and its community — grow.

Community Leads' roles and responsibilities:

• Maintain a very active, very involved presence in our community on both Discord and social media;

• Be prepared to speak to your friends about Doublejump and get them involved in the community;

• Help us create content for our social media, whether it's by creating the content yourself or passing on ideas and suggestions; and

• Liaise with the Management to find more and more ways to help Doublejump grow its community.

What you can expect in return:

• Plenty of assistance, guidance and training in whatever fields you need;

• The ability to write an article here or there if the mood strikes;

• Discounts on Doublejump merchandise; and

• The assurance that Management is constantly working to grow the site with a view to paying you for your work.

Our ideal candidate has:

• An existing, active presence on at least two of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram; and

• The willingness to use their resources to assist in Doublejump's growth.

We would love if you also had knowledge of – and access to – Adobe Photoshop, or some other way to work with our social media post templates, but that is not at all required!
