MAJOR NEWS:

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is the follow-up to Wildlands:

After accidentally leaking the game’s existence, Ubisoft finally announced its next Ghost Recon multiplayer game, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The upcoming title will feature more survival-focussed gameplay than its predecessor and pits players against the elements by tasking them with managing their stamina, recovering from injury, and using the new tropical environment as a tactical tool.

The titular Ghosts will face-off against a paramilitary faction named Wolves – who are led by former Ghost Cole D. Walker (Jon Bernthal) – as they fight to regain control of a secret research base located in the fictional Pacific island of Auroa. Players will gain access to a revamped class system that should give them more skills and gadgets to combat the new variety of enemy types.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is slated for an October 4 release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Epic Games kicks off Fortnite Season 9 with a John Wick homage:

The company launched the game’s ninth season and made a few changes to the island map including locations such as Neo Tilted and Mega Mall in addition to “Slipstreams” that allow players to fly across the map very quickly. Furthermore, players who venture into Paradise Palms will find a mansion that looks very similar to that of John Wick’s – complete with a Ford Mustang-like muscle car.

EA wants to bring Apex Legends to mobile devices:

During its latest earnings call, COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that the publisher is currently “in advanced negotiations” to develop a mobile version of Respawn Entertainment’s popular battle royale game in addition to publishing it in China. In related news, Executive Producer Drew McCoy told players that the studio will begin banning players who remain idle in matches and rely on their teammates to earn them free experience and victories.

Starbreeze’s days are seriously numbered:

According to GamesIndustry.biz, acting Starbreeze Studios CEO Mikael Nermark told the company’s investors that the Swedish developer and publisher does not have enough money to continue operating beyond another twelve months. He explained that his main priority is “to secure financing for the company’s future operations” as soon as possible.

Claptrap’s original voice actor claims that Randy Pitchford fired him:

Former Gearbox Software employer and Claptrap voice actor David Eddings recently took to Twitter to claim that CEO Randy Pitchford had physically assaulted him in a hotel lobby during the 2017 Game Developers Conference. Eddings also claimed that Pitchord “fired” him the very next day after he informed Gearbox’s human resources department about the assault. While Pitchford has not responded to the allegation as of this writing, Eddings has since said that Gearbox is taking his allegation “very seriously”.
